Tom Ford Smoking Jacket, Harrold's, Martin Place, Sydney, Australia

Harrolds (www.harrolds.com.au) is stocking Tom Ford and on Friday afternoon I was delivering some bows to a boutique in the city when I saw on the rack his black smoking jacket. On closer examination I finally worked out how the hell he stitched the velvet. It's an embroidery pattern which runs through the fabric. The design was most probably done on a graphics programme and then the roll of velvet fed through the embroidery machine. It was simply stunning! I thought the lapel was too wide and I didn't think it was worth its $5100 AUD price tag but hey, hats off to the Master.
