Rafael Bonachela & The Sydney Dance Company - Shared Frequencies

I had the pleasure of being invited to the premiere of Rafael Bonachela's 'Shared Frequencies' last week. I have to admit; I am not much of a follower of the arts. I am not a patron of any theatre, I go to the opera once every two years and when I saw 'Spartacus' as a ballet in Athens I fell asleep despite being in the amphi-theatre below the Acropolis.

But this was something brilliant. This was something that really opened me up - the composition by Ezio Bosso was magical and haunting and then there were the dancers who brought it all together in this ethereal fluid movement. For a while there I thought I was on the set of 'Hablo Con Elle' - swept up into some magical realm of the imaginings of Pedro Almodovar.

And whilst the first part by Jacopo Godani was in itself amazing, it was Rafael's second half, the relationship between the music and the dance that took it to a whole new level for me. I would definitely recommend Shared Frequencies to anyone who wasn't into this kind of thing but was looking to get into this kind of thing!

Well done Jacopo, Rafael, Ezio and the dancers - you certainly deserved your standing ovation.
