Hello From Margaux

There is something about the French which is so enviable and one of those things is the manner in which they take pride in their work. I have been to many vineyards in Australia and they are often rustic and rarely do they resemble high end 'laboratories' which was what I sensed yesterday as I took a tour of Chateau Dauzac. As we took the guided tour, in French I might add, because we were pressed for time and the English tour was much later; of which I understood very little, I managed to say 'Oh, in Australia, we don't seem to have such a refined processing system or such government controls on winemaking like your AOC' to which to the tour guide laughed in that 'Bof' French manner and said 'Non, you do not have many controls at all', instantly dismissing everything Australian's had striven for in one breath. That in itself was brilliant and only the French could pull it off.
