Milanese Men

The average street corner in Milan is the home to what might be considered the greatest dandy in wherever it is that you may come from. To watch an average Milanese guy cycle around in a light grey suit, white shirt and contrasting tie, mid-summer, blue sky, full sun, sweltering heat; and he does it with an effortlessness that makes you feel somewhat lesser of a human being. It is an act of course... When I said to Signor Lino 'How do the men do it here, do they not sweat?', he responded, 'No, they sweat'. But at least the image is that it looks effortless. One thing I absolutely love about Milanese fashion is the double-breasted jacket with contrasting pants, no socks and loafers. It is perhaps one of the quintessential looks I took away from this trip. One thing I will never understand, and I would imagine you must have to be Italian to understand it, is the use of linen in jackets and of course, the hand-bracelets that sport every man's wrists. I can appreciate that they are 'cool' but adopting them myself has been out of of my sphere. I have enough difficulty wearing a wrist watch.
