Where The Godfather Gets His Dressing Gowns From...

In 1946 post-war Europe was a mess and Italians began to rebuild the country. In that year the father of Dario and Francesco Carta, Mr. Ennio Carta, moved to Como to begin working with a silk weaving company. In 1971 he moved away from cloth production and moved into the fabrication side of the business using his knowledge in cloth as a base. In the beginning the company made dressing gowns out of wool. In time he would begin making boxer shorts out of cotton and silk, ties, smoking jackets, dressing gowns in silk and pyjamas. Today the business is run by Ennio's two sons, Dario and Francesco.

The Carta brothers continue to work with companies around the world to make some of the finest dressing gowns and smoking jackets which appear in some of your favourite films on some of your best known characters. One such example which hangs on their wall in their office, is a photo of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in the Godfather III. When Michael Corleone is hospitalised after falling down, the Carta brothers dressing gown is his garment of choice for the bedside. Below I present to you the two brothers, Francesco and Dario, the former holding and wearing a little piece of cinematic history.

PS: These robes are available through Le Noeud Papillon of Sydney by appointment or via email order subscriptions. Please contact us on www.lenoeudpapillon.com if you are interested in purchasing one of these unique silk dressing gowns.
