Have I Changed My Opinion? Not Really.

A few years ago I was approached by the Sydney Morning Herald to talk about what I looked for in a woman. The article was titled 'Maid To Order' and it skewed many of the comments I made to put me in a certain light. The only thing that came out well from the article was this portrait of me wearing an Yves bow tie. At the time I thought, perhaps even correctly, that I was the first person in the world to pipe a bow tie.

When the article came out I was ridiculed by feminist bloggers on the internet who said I would wind up alone at seventy, a sad little old man tying his bow tie in the mirror. Three years have past and this morning I stumbled upon this image in a folder whilst I was looking for something else. The caption 'A woman's financial independence is emasculating. But you have to deal with it' was there in front of me. I fondly recalled the period and what I felt at the time. I still feel it. I am a man, and as such I like to look after the women in my life. It is my right, it is in some sense my duty. I don't like to live off women or their charity unless I am ill. Yes, I accept dinners from my girlfriend from time to time, but I am a man, and it doesn't sit comfortably to live like officer Freddy Benson. And, from my understanding, my girlfriend likes it that way.
