Wedding Bow Ties Made In Sydney, Shipped To New York, Worn In Vienna

There are some traditionalists that can't bear to see anything other than a matching silk for the bow tie and the facing of a tuxedo jacket. Depending on the setting I chop and change my opinion. There is another mode of thought that you can be creative with black tie but minimally. Recently Will Boehlke of A Suitable Wardrobe said that in his opinion this might extend to a red satin silk pocket square or socks. But what about a splash of red in your bow tie?

This was the result of wedding bow ties commissioned by an old friend in New York who wanted a twist of something different for his wedding day. I think that it fits in with what Will Boehlke refers to as a splash of eccentricity, providing a subtle nuance to what would have otherwise been a traditional black tie setting and of course setting the groom and groomsmen apart from the throng.

But not only was this work interesting - contrasting a red 50 Oz silk twill with a our luxurious premium satin silk - but it was fascinating to see our bows depart Sydney, arrive New York, perform a New York celebration, pack up, head to Vienna, do it all again - and they still looked sharp.

To steal the words of an old Australian biscuit company "there's no substitute for quality".

If you have something different in mind for your own wedding, we don't mind being your conduit from idea to reality. www.lenoeudpapillon.com
